Helen Sheppard

Nature abounds beyond the window of Helen Sheppard's studio nestled on the shore of Stoney Lake in the Kawarthas. Here lies the source of this talented landscape and floral artist's inspiration.

Carefully framed oils and watercolours depict the rugged natural surroundings of the lake she loves. Here snow, rock, water, tree and sky exhibit their unspoken splendour through the touch of this artist's hand. She shows her love of the subject which is sensitively reflected in each of her floral paintings

Beside exhibiting in the May and August shows with the Buckhorn Artists' Group, Helen also exhibits her work in June in Norwood, at Crowe's Landing in July and in August there is a another show on Juniper Island. Helen has also displayed her work at the Peterborough Theatre Guild and she is often one of the featured artists at the Douro-Dummer Library.

This tireless artist has also exhibited her work in a number of galleries throughout the area and she is an award recipient from the Buckhorn School of Fine Art.

Although Helen's work is mostly of landscapes and flowers, the first painting she completed was of St. Peter's on the Rock, a church on an island in Stoney Lake, which was sold to a man who lives in Scotland.

Her paintings are cherished by patrons from Germany, France, Scotland, Czechoslovakia and Hong Kong, to the United States and throughout all of Canada.

She has completed many commissioned pieces and with invitations to a variety of art shows her work is in demand. Helen says to her amazement she once sold a painting before the oil had time to dry.
