24th Annual Shades of Summer Art Show

The day started off with a cold rain in the morning and chilling temperatures of 46F (8C), although it is supposed to get up to 59F (15C) in the late afternoon which is unseasonably cold for the middle of August.
















Although the morning was fairly quiet, the afternoon was another story; we had a fair crowd of people come through the show.














With three originals sold from Barbara MacGregor, Rebecca Bilcox and JoAnne Connell Northey as well as small items from Bonny Windover and Diane Collins.

We hope some of you will be able to come out and visit our show.

Shades of Summer Art Show

It is another cool and rainy day, but out attendance has increased as people are coming out instead of staying inside and at home for another day.

Today was another hot and humid day with the temperature at 78F (25.5C) and with the humidity it felt like 93F (34C).



















So it was no surprise that we didn't have many people come through the show today, but small items were sold by JoAnne Connell Northey.

Shades of Summer Art Show

Today is the first half day at our show. In the morning the show is visited by some of the people either before and/or after attending the church service. Then the doors open at 12:30pm to the general public.


















With the heat and humidity along with it being the end of the weekend and the cottagers heading home we did not have large crowds, but a number did come out to see the show.

First Day of the Shades of Summer Art Show and Sale

Today was a typical bright, warm and sunny summer day. We really didn't expect too many people to come out to the show today as most would probably be at the cottage or out on the lakes, so needless to say we were surprised by the steady stream of visitors.

Setting up the 24th Annual Shades of Summer Art Show

Last night as usual we set up the panels and tables for the Shades of Summer Art Show and Sale.

Some of the artists set their art onto the panels last night so that they would not have to return the day before the show while others preferred to come back today to set up their art without having to rush to finish setting up everything.

It didn't take long for those of us who returned today to move all the boxes and bags holding their artwork into the Church and start unpacking the larger pieces. Once they were set in place on the panels it was easy to hang the rest of the paintings around them.

Once the main panels were finally filled it was time to put a couple of paintings up on the front panels where our theme for this show was "Cottage Country".

















By then it was time to take a break and most of the artists went next door to the Cody Inn to have lunch and relax for a little while before either returning to finish hanging their work or heading home to enjoy the rest of their day.

There is space for each artist to hang a few smaller paintings on the short grids set up on the front table and display their brochures and business cards in front of them.

Each artist also has a section of space on the tables, which run along the outside edge of the church hall for cards, brochures, containers with matted and shrink wrapped paintings, small paintings set on easels or binders with unframed original art.

Lastly everyone leaves a list of their artwork at the front desk.

We look forward to seeing some of you at our show during the next nine days.
