It was interesting setting up the panels in St. Matthew's Church tonight for the 22st Annual Shades of Summer Art Show. We had a violent thunderstorm last night that caused a tree to be uprooted and knocked down a hydro pole, which caused a nine hour black out for the entire area from Selwyn to Buckhorn approximately 4 square miles (10.4 square km ).
The storm just didn't want to leave and it poured down rain the entire time we had to bring the panels inside the building. Needless to say most of use were soaking wet by the time we were ready to set up the panels in the dark.
Fortunately some of us had flashlights in our vehicles and we measured out the where the panels needed to be set up with the aid of three flashlights.It was after 10:00pm when we finally finished and had all the panels and tables set up.
Most of us decided against bringing in the paintings inside in the pouring rain and trying to hang them by flashlight. That would just be an accident waiting to happen and we would still have to return today to finish.
Today most of us spent the day hanging the art show at Buckhorn. We worked together to get everything hung on the panels and set up on the tables. We broke for lunch and went next door to the Cody Inn for a much needed rest from hanging the show.
After lunch things went up fairly quickly so by late afternoon we are finally ready for our opening tomorrow morning.
