Rebecca Bilcox chooses to paint images of things that evoke emotion, that are near and familiar. She paints a broad spectrum of subject matter, particularly of nature and its landscape from places across Ontario, Algonquin Provincial Park and our eastern Provinces.
A self taught artist, with an intuitive style, she paints her watercolours with a fine detail, expressive style and rich tones. Her paintings reflect an intensity, passion and characterization of the subject matter.
Classes and workshops with several professionals in the beginning helped me to refine her technical skills, which allowed her, as an individual, to develop her unique and now recognizable style. She continues to participate in private showings, art shows and juried shows throughout the year.
She holds active membership in the ECOAA, Oshawa Art Association and the Visual Arts Centre of Clarington.
Through the years she has organized, planned and provided support to may art festivals and showings.
Her paintings can be found in many private and public collections across Canada, United States and Japan.
The Friends of Algonquin Park in 2008 selected a painting she had donated of Autumn Leaves to be displayed on note cards, note pads and coffee mugs.
