Penny Little

Penny Little is a fifth generation Stoney Lake resident. Penny spent her childhood summers with her family enjoying the beauties of the area. Her paintings reflect her experiences with the lake and trips to its surrounding areas.

Retired now on Stoney, and living in the house which she designed. Penny is still drawn to the scenes which she remembers as a child. She also is developing a keen eye for the trails left behind by her four children and eight grand children. What she remembers and what she sees from, the basis for her oils, watercolour and sketches.

A relative newcomer to the artistic world, Penny says "I've always had the idea that I might be able to paint....'if my twin can do it so can I'...but until the last few years just haven't had the time to try". She is making up for lost time, studying and doing workshops with local artists. Including the Buckhorn Artists' Group and the Peterborough School of Fine Art and a variety of short courses. In addition to the Juniper Island Art Festival, Penny has sold paintings at Crowe's Arts and Craft Show, The Buckhorn Artists' Group Shows, The Fenelon Falls Art Festival, The Cobourg Waterfront Festival and the Lakefield Jazz and Art Festival.

Her favourite painting place is her home on Gilchrist Bay where she does most of her work. Out of her home and at shows, she offers for sale greeting cards of many of her paintings, as well as the original paintings, sketches and the occasional personalized paddle. She accepts commission work of cottages and local scenes from which she will make personal greeting cards.

"Stoney Lake, the peaceful surroundings, and changing moods, the natural calming atmosphere, the antics of the grandchildren and the encouragement of family and friends, are my inspiration. I hope my work reflects the joy I feel in producing it."
